We needed to slow down our trip to let a storm move on. The problem with travelling east is that when storms occur they keep moving east. We figured we should hang around the Glacier area for a couple more days so we can avoid the rain (we hope) as we travel east. While in the park we took the Red Cab tour up to the top of Logan's Pass, These small buses were built in the 30's by White Motor Co. They were rebuilt by Ford but still kept their looks. The top rolls down so you can look up and stand up through the roof. It was of course a great ride. I choose to sit near the middle because some of the road was very scary. Michael got to sit shotgun next to the drive. Finally he could be a passenger! We passed many waterfalls. At the top we drove into a cloud. The lodge at Lake McDonald is a historic building. It has a wonderful great room that is easy to relax in. It has a walk-in fireplace that was always in use. We would applaud the man that tended the fires. He would bring in 4 foot logs to place in the fire. There was a piano that was used quite a bit by talented guests. In the dining room the food was very special. The lodge closed today. We went to stay in Whitefish, a town near skiing slopes. Tomorrow we will go hiking in the east part of the park before moving east towards North Dakota.
