Kalispell, Montana We left Spokane this morning travelling on I-90. A shock after all the secondary roads we have taken. The traffic dropped off and we were on our way to Montana. 90 twisted and turned going from 75 to 35 mph. It took us through gorgeous mountains. Lots of warnings for the winter. When certain lights were flashing chains were required to be put on studded tires. Northern Idaho and Montana are wild and picturebook beautiful. We got off 90 at St. Regis, Montana for gas. The clerk in the store alerted us to an alternative route to Glacier. It was wonderful. The road was 70 mph, and we were the only ones travelling. We went through valleys and high pasture land. Some of it looked like ochre colored velvet. So beautiful. We came down a steep grade and saw Flathead Lake, a gorgeous blue. We are staying at a historic hotel tonight, named Kallispell Grand Hotel. Tomorrow we go into Glacier. We had a crystal clear day today, but it sounds like we are in for rain again. Hopefully it won't be all weekend. We are up to 4600 miles! We are having a great time but thinking of home.
