Yellowstone and Grand Tetons are so different but gorgeous. We weren't able to do justice to the waterfalls, mountains, grasslands and wildlife. Everywhere there are warnings about bears saying to carry bear spray. We bought bear spray, but fortunately, it was like insurance, we have not needed to use it. Yesterday we hiked and enjoyed the Willow Flats hoping to see moose, but no luck. On the other hand chipmunks, deer, bison, and big crows are all around. The weather is very cool in the morning but war m s up during the day. The clouds are dramatic. Thunderstorms seem to develop in the afternoon. Today we left the Grand Tetons to make our way to Portland. We traveled way up in altitude driving switchbacksand 10% grades down (will the breaks hold). We crossed the Tetons into Idaho. The change in terrain was amazing. We saw huge storm clouds going over the mountains. The Idaho side was dry and warm. We could see the rain falling in the mountains. Amazing view. We are staying in a motel tonight! We can clean up and take a break from camping. It is good to be warm.
