We spent two nights camping at Cape Disappointment at the mouth of the Columbia River. This is a rain forest area and considered to be the fogiest and windiest place in the US. They get hurricane force winds. We didn't know this when we decided to camp there. We were lucky and had a spectacular day at the ocean beach and exploring the bluffs. Beautiful! Lewis and Clark saw the Pacific for the first time here. This is wild country. Last night it started blowing, then raining. We had a critter that circled around our tent. I didn't sleep well. But we were fine. Gorgeous drive up the coast. Tomorrow we willstay at a place near the entrance to the Olympia National Park. We need to get our campsite early the next morning. They are on a first come basis and these parks fill up. I'm a little nervous about weather. We are debating routes based on weather. We are expecting some rain. It would be nice to camp on the Oregon Coast when we begin our return but it is not much fun when it is rainy and windy. I am continually amazed at what the First People experienced as well as explorers such as the Lewis and Cark Expedition. We are at 3300 miles! Our car is running well. We lost a plastic molding somewhere recently. We have found the best radio station that puts together our youth in a very inspired way.
